Postsecret's... sunday's secret addiction.

About four or five years ago my mom showed me this book called Post Secret. It was about people writing their secrets on postcards and sending it to this one guy called Frank. The hole story can be read here.

Anyway. The post secret blog is the biggest advert-free blog in the world and I visit it religiously every Sunday even before I sit up in bed to drink my coffee.

Go have a look, it makes you realise a few things:

# 1: That there are other people out there who have simmular issues as you may have.
# 2: Secondly, that there is help out there for you if you might need it.
# 3: and lastly, that your life is not as fucked up as you thought it might be.

This website has changed millons of peoples' lives and will continue to do so. Now they are bringing out an Iphone app. I can only imagine the effect that might have.

Here are a couple of screen shots, pdf's and a video.

stew, a first for me.

Lets just say I'm full of it when it comes to food.

My wife and family will say that it’s an understatement, and yes I think it is, but this is not the post to get into it.

Over the weekend we made a Shepherd’s pie (or like it is know in America, a Cottage pie). We made it in our own way and it came out ok. I will still put some photos up, maybe even blog.

Anyway this post is about stews,
the first is a
Beef Bourguignon. First saw this one in the Julie and Julia movie and since then I had the urge to make it. Only one problem: the process is excruciating so I will have to get some ninja chef training before I try it. [insert picture here]
The one i want to try over the weekend will either be an Irish Beef Stew (with Guinness and red wine…Guinness…yum) or a Short-Rib Beef Stew with Ale.

I found the recipes on simplyrecipes, and the best thing it there is a IPhone web app for the site. Nice

I will let you know how it went.

post "INTERRUPTED"

a day in photos, iphone photos

I have a certain affection/love/intriguement with hardware stores, I don't know what it is. All that I do know is that there is some magic about them. I think its all the possibilities that I see in the stock and tools. The things that I can use to make furniture or DIY with.

Anyway, I was introduced to an old (but new to me) hardware store in the city CBD. It is located in this alley and it's kind of tucked away in the city fabric, with these amazing textures and mixture of building materials. So I drew the iphone and shot away.

Enjoy

Last but not least, a photo or two of the old and new SABS buildings.
